Children & Youth

We cherish the young people and families with kids who are a part of our congregation!

We cherish the young people and families with kids who are a part of our congregation! On any given Sunday you might see babies and toddlers playing with toys on the floor, youth reading scripture or leading music, and people of all ages talking and laughing together before and after the service. Our children and youth pastor, Catherine Lee, helps our young people experience God’s love by coordinating Sunday school and youth group activities.

Worship

We offer childcare for infants and pre-K children during our worship service. We supply homemade activity bags for younger kids with books, toys and art supplies to use during worship. Each Sunday we have a children’s story — that can range from a re-telling of the scripture passage to a hands-on activity or lesson, to reading a children’s book. We celebrate milestones in the lives of our children and youth such as baby dedications (where we present a baby quilt and children’s story Bible), gifting regular Bibles to 6th graders, and blessing graduates and others in moments of transition.

Sunday School

During the fall and spring, at 4pm we have Sunday School classes for kids ages pre-K through high school. We follow age-appropriate curriculum that builds knowledge of the Bible and helps kids and youth learn what it means to follow Jesus.

Youth Group

Our youth group is for 6th through 12th graders. They get together once a month for activities ranging from service projects, progressive dinners, doing art projects or making banners for demonstrations, game nights, or learning sessions about topics like peacemaking and nonviolence, the history of Queer inclusion or racial justice and the Mennonite church. Our youth have been enthusiastic participants at the biennial Mennonite Church USA conventions.

Safe Church Policy

We are committed to being a safe and healthy congregation for children, youth, and adults. We are proactive in protecting people of all ages from abuse. We practice a two-adult present rule for all interactions with kids and youth. All volunteers must complete background checks and participate in annual training on abuse prevention and healthy relationships.
