Justice, Peace & Service

As individuals and families, our worship and fellowship together as the body of Christ empowers us to embody God’s love in our daily lives. Whether young or old, retired or working, we try to live out our faith in our workplaces as healthcare workers, contractors, chaplains, teachers, students, writers and researchers, businesspeople, scientists — and at home as caregivers, parents, children, neighbors.

Service with our hands

We like to work with our hands in service. We regularly send a group each summer with the Mennonite Central Committee Appalachia Build program to do home repair in Kentucky and West Virginia and have also sent volunteers with Mennonite Disaster Service clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Our youth group regularly does service projects like preparing meals at the local SECU House and gleaning crops for the food bank.

CHMF members have advocated for a just peace in Palestine and Israel through the protest, education, and advocacy of the Mennonite Action movement — making public our opposition to war and Christian Nationalism.
